We finished 3rd out of 60 in the "So You Think You Can Funny" Metromix and Second City contest. "They got me with the line, 'He's a neo-phyte but I hope he's not an anti-semite,'" [Fred] Willard said in judging the contest, naming (Bee)tnick Poet as his pick for number one. Full results can be found here.
It was truly an exciting experience with our first big jump into the Chicago comedy community. We enjoyed the smorgasbord of creative talent and we particularly got a kick out Joe Kwaczala, Joe Fernandez, Teenager of The Year, and the folks who made Pretend I'm Not Here, and Rise and Shine Jesus Christ. We're excited to see what they do next and we are jacked to share our new projects. Stay tuned Sugarmaniacs, the animated series is coming along nicely.
Donny, Eliaz, & Jeff would like to thank everyone for voting! From our understanding we did end the first round of the Metromix & Second City "So you think you can funny?" contest in the top 5 and will advance to the next round. In the 2nd round, the top 5 will be ranked by Fred Willard, Rachel Dratch, Jeff Garlin and Mick Napier. Final results will be announce Dec. 7th.
Our entry, (Bee)tnick Poet, now has over 4,100 views, including about 280 since the voting concluded, which makes it our most viewed video since "Tramp Stamp", a deleted scene from our documentary that created a gross misunderstanding on our youtube. Thanks again everyone for all your help spreading the word!

(Bee)tnick LIVE!!! [RECORDED!!!]
Donny, Eliaz, & Jeff have been working hard to promote (Bee)tnick & the "So you think you can funny?" contest all over the city of Chicago. Here is one of the many live performances we've been doing. Most of the performances have been at poetry open mics, but this one was at an improv comedy show where the audience was led to believe they were real poets. Watch Donny & Jeff perform (Bee)tnick as it was originally intended, a sketch for the stage.
btw, jeff's character is named nicky... nick... (bee)tNICK... literally, beat-nick... get it? Whatever, just vote!
Watch our brand new, and shortest ever, video (Bee)tnick Poet and vote for it in Second City & Metromix's "So you think you can funny?" contest here, we're #31.
You can watch our newest short, SIDE JOBS, on our Film page right now! It's rated R for strong detective-like language and brief violence.
We have 2 other shorts that are different styles from SIDE JOBS which will be released later this month.
Our very own Jeff Phillips has written and illustrated his own book entitled Whiskey Pike. It's not a comedy, but it is A Bedtime Story for the Drinking Mankind and we know the 'Sugar audience likes to drink, so we highly recommend it!
